Neighbour Aid / Social Support
Mosman Council – Aged and Disability Services provides a range of services aimed at meeting the needs of Mosman residents who are frail older people or younger people with disabilities, and their carers.
We offer an Information, Referral, Support and Advocacy Service. (See Clients Rights and Responsibilities). You are welcome to provide feedback as a client; have someone speak on your behalf and be assured that confidentiality is maintained.
As of July 2015 the HACC (Home and Community Care) program for frail older people, transitioned to the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). All new referrals of frail older people (aged 65 and over) to our service will go though My Aged Care. Contact 1800 200 422 or visit www.myagedcare.gov.au.
Mosman Council offers a Neighbour Aid program to support frail, older people and younger people with disabilities living in their own home.
Support is provided by trained volunteers who assist with social support and various tasks such as shopping, outings, transport to appointments and other activities.
The Neighbour Aid program has been extended to include an Art-at-Home and Computer Aid program. Skilled volunteers help you develop or improve your drawing/painting or computer skills in your own home.
For more information please contact Community Support Officers Lyn Kelleher or Chantal Kerr on 9978 4119.
