Role of Group

  • To encourage community dialogue on the development and review of the Cultural Plan
  • To assist Council in understanding the needs and aspirations of the community regarding the art gallery and its services and public art
  • To assist in planning for innovative and inclusive cultural events and celebrations
  • To assist Council in understanding the needs and aspirations of the community regarding the library, its services and resources
  • To advise Council on planning for any new cultural and library programs and enhancements to existing programs
  • To provide feedback on Council’s website, its use and development
  • To support existing Friendship Agreements and assist in community involvement
  • To provide an avenue for liaison with the school communities on cultural matters
  • To consult and communicate with the Council and each other
  • To celebrate the role of the Library and Art Gallery Volunteers

Membership

  • Elected representatives: Chair: Cr Anne Connon; Deputy Chair: Cr Kate Traill
  • Responsible Officers: Manager Cultural Services, Manager Library Resources, Manager Library Services and Marketing & Communications Manager, through the Director Community Development, to convene and service the Group and to report to Council when appropriate
  • Other staff attending: Other staff as required
  • Community: Representatives from interested community organisations, societies, agencies, schools, and the like, particularly volunteers and any residents who have particular expertise or interest in the role of the Community Group

Review

  • Role and membership of the group to be reviewed each year in September with membership refreshed every year through public advertisement and invitation to interested volunteers, community organisations, societies and schools and existing members.
