Food handler seminars

The Food Safety Standards require that a food business must ensure that all food handlers have adequate skills and knowledge in food safety and food hygiene matters commensurate with their activities.

To help businesses meet this requirement under the Food Safety Standard, Council offers free ‘Food handling and Hygiene’ seminars to local food businesses and their employees.

Topics covered at the training seminars include food regulation updates, temperature control, identifying food safety hazards, health and hygiene requirements, risk management, reducing the risk of food poisoning incidents, sanitising and cleaning and construction of food premises.

Seminars are held in the evening between 5.30pm and 8.00pm to afford all food handlers the opportunity to attend this valuable event.

Each participant receives a certificate of attendance that satifies the skills and knowledge requirement of Food Safety Standard 3.2.2.
