Digital photos & Flickr with Morgan Williams

Date
Thursday 29 July 2010
Time
6:30PM - 7:30PM
Place
Mosman Library

As part of our Social Media Mob – a loose community of local groups sharing information on how to communicate, organise and just do things online – Mosman Library has been hosting talks on a variety of ‘digital culture’ topics – from Wikipedia to digital volunteering.

This month we’re very pleased to have a talk on Flickr by Morgan Williams.

Morgan Williams

Morgan is the Head of Applications at Yahoo!7 and is responsible for the Australian versions of products such as Yahoo! Mail, Messenger, Groups and Flickr.

Originally from Old South Wales, Morgan is an avid photographer and is to found most frequently on the Northern Beaches.

Morgan will present an overview of Flickr, its history, features and how it can be used to crowdsource/curate local and family history. You’ll learn why Flickr is a wonderful way to communicate and engage.

This talk is free, but please sign up using this form!

What is Flickr?

“Almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world.”

Mosman Council and Mosman Library have photostreams on Flickr. We recently ran a photo comp for teens on Flickr.

Mosman Library’s favourites on Flickr

Since 2006 we have been favouriting photos of Mosman that are interesting, typical or have a documentary value. Here’s a slideshow, that shows how people ‘see’ the area:
