Library services

Membership

  • You do not have to be a Mosman resident to join Mosman Library.
  • Library membership is free – just visit the Library and fill in an application form.
  • Identification including proof of address is required when joining.
  • If you are already a member of another Shorelink Library you can use your card at Mosman.

Shorelink Library Network

  • Any Shorelink Library book borrowed can now be returned to any Shorelink Library!
  • Mosman Library is a member of the Shorelink Library Network, a computer network that links the libraries of Mosman, Lane Cove, Manly, Stanton (North Sydney) and Willoughby. Your library membership card entitles you to borrow from all of these libraries.
  • Books & magazines can be returned at any library in the network. Items such as DVDs, Compact Discs and kits must be returned to the Library where they were borrowed.

Lending Services

  • books, magazines, videos, audio cassettes, talking books, CDs, CD-ROMs and DVDs
  • all age levels and reading abilities catered for
  • up to 12 items at a time
  • 3 week loan period for most materials
  • 1 week loan period for DVDs
  • items may be reserved for a fee
  • items may be renewed once if not overdue or reserved
  • overdue fee for late returns
  • after-hours chute available at front door
  • InterLibrary Loan requests can be obtained for a fee if unavailable in Mosman collection

Internet Access – phone 9978 4090

  • Free public internet access is available for information and research
  • PCs for Web-based email (such as Hotmail) are available for $2.50 per 1/2 hour
  • Bookings for Web browsing and email are taken on a half-hourly basis
  • It is possible to send or receive attachments from or to a USB drive
  • Black-and-white printing is available at 20c per page, colour printing at $2.20 per page (own paper may not be used)
  • USB access is available for web browsing, email and word processing PCs
  • Free wireless internet access is available for patrons with a wireless card and up-to-date virus protection – enquire at the Reference Desk for a wireless password

  • Bookings are required; use of word processing PCs is $2.50 per half hour
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint software is available
  • Black-and-white printing available at 20c cost per page (own paper may not be used)
  • Colour scanner available

Computer Training – phone 9978 4105

  • Fee-based personal training is available on using the Internet.

Photocopying/Fax Service

  • 2 card operated colour/black&white photocopiers available for public use
  • You must use your Mosman Library membership card to photocopy. If you are not a Library member, you can purchase a reusable casual copy/print card for $1.00.
  • Credit can be added to your card at the pay station on Level 1 – Reference & Information Technology Centre
  • Fax machine – charges per page apply for sending and receiving faxes
