Get to know the residents of Underwater Mosman

Everyone knows Sydney’s famous for its iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge, but few people are aware what lives beneath Sydney that’s just as spectacular.

Underwater Sydney, supported by the Sydney Coastal Councils Group, allows you to get up close and personal with the marine life in your suburb.

Take a tour of Underwater Mosman, find the ‘local’ fish – like the Striped Anglerfish which can eat twice its own weight in one gulp! – and look through stunning images and videos created by Underwater Earth’s team of photographers, using underwater scooters.

Mosman is in an area referred to as the ‘gold zone’ for marine creatures, with more weird and wonderful animals here than anywhere else in Sydney.

Most people believe that marine life is transient, but in reality much of the life in coastal locations will live there their entire lives. A blue groper may have lived in the same Sydney suburb for 30 years or more – it’s time we got to know what creatures live beneath us and do what we can to protect them.
