Allan Border Oval – Turf Wicket Upgrade

Specialist contractors have begun replacing the wicket square at Allan Border Oval to improve the condition of the turf wicket and the surrounds for winter and summer users. The existing wicket soil will be replaced, leveled and re-turfed and additional subsoil drainage installed.

The main works are expected to take 10 days and the wicket will be out of use for at least 3 months while turf becomes established and the wicket is rolled and completed.

The works arise from recommendations made by Turf Grass Consulting & Research which was commissioned to review the condition of Council’s Grounds in March. The work is being carried out with the input and co-operation of the ground users who have been prepared to reschedule matches to allow this necessary maintenance.

Elsewhere, 12,000 sq.m. of turf is being laid across all ovals in Mosman in the first week of September. This is part of Council’s annual ovals restoration program which follows the completion of winter sports each year.
