Rock faces & retaining walls
The Mosman Residential Development Control Plan (RDCP) identifies sandstone retaining walls, rock outcrops, divided roads with natural rock or sandstone block walls and cut sandstone cliff faces as important character elements in a number of townscape areas.
In particular, these features are noted in the Balmoral, Mosman Bay, Rosherville/Wyargine, Clifton Gardens and Middle Harbour/Pearl Bay areas.

On 1 August 2005, Mosman Council adopted a policy for considering development that may affect significant rock faces and retaining walls.
