E-waste – unwanted electronic goods like computers, televisions and video recorders – contains many finite resources such as gold, copper and silver. Some materials contained in e-waste are toxic to our environment, containing high levels of lead and mercury. Don’t let these items end up in landfill!

Kimbriki

At the moment, Kimbriki landfill and recycling centre, between Terrey Hills and Ingleside, are not charging for drop-offs of e-waste from any SHOROC household member (that is, a resident of Mosman, Manly, Warringah or Pittwater). If a customer comes from outside the area Kimbriki will charge them.

Details: The Computer Technologies for Schools project facilitates donations of surplus computers and information and communication technologies (ICT) equipment for use in schools throughout Australia. They currently have a high demand for computers for NSW schools. With that sort of a need, there’s little reason why acceptable working computers should end up in landfill. They accept both computers from both businesses and individual residents.

Details: You can bring unwanted Toshiba Notebooks (including batteries) to a Toshiba MobileCare or ProCare Service Centre in Australia. Just fill in an Equipment Disposal Agreement and then drop off your equipment in the recycling bin in the lobby and we will take care of it at no charge. For your nearest drop-off point, check online or call 13 30 70. If you are in an area that does not have a collection point, you can even post your equipment to us (along with a completed Equipment Disposal Agreement) and we will take care of it. Please note: a handling fee will apply if you drop off or post a non-Toshiba Notebook. This covers the cost of shipping and recycling.

You can now drop off your used or empty laser and inkjet cartridges at participating Australia Post, Officeworks, Harvey Norman, Tandy, Dick Smith Electronics and Powerhouse outlets. This is a free service.


Why ban e-waste?
