Rene Leveaux has represented Australia in Taekwondo at the highest level as both competitor and referee.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Rene participated in several international competitions including four Asian Pacific Championships where he won a bronze and a silver medal.

On retiring from competition he took up refereeing and has represented Australia at more than thirty international competitions including the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Olympic Qualification Tournaments for both the Sydney and Athens Olympics, three World University Championships and two World University Games.

He has been awarded letters of commendation from the World Taekwondo Federation on three occasions, the Commonwealth Sports Recognition Award and University Blues.
