Damian P. Kelly
Rugby Union

A second-rower and number 8, Damian was selected to play in the Queensland Schoolboys team at the 1980 Australian Schools Championship in Hobart. He also played in the Queensland Schoolboys Championship in 1981 in Melbourne.

He was then selected for the 1981-82 Australian Schoolboys Tour of the UK and Ireland. This was one of the most successful Schoolboys Tours with the Australian team coming home undefeated and having only conceded one try.

A total of ten Wallabies came out of that 1981-82 Schoolboys Tour, equalling the highest number from any schoolboy year. The team included Matthew Burke, David Knox, Tim Kava, Cameron Lillicrap, Michael Lynagh, Brett Papworth, Ian Williams, Steven Tuynman, Brad Burke and Mark Hartill.

Michael Lynagh, a good friend of Damian’s from St Josephs College in Brisbane, who went on to score 911 test points for Australia, was given the nickname "Noddy" by Damian on that Tour.

Damian is now a Director, Head of Futures for Citigroup Asia.
