Ausgrid critical maintenance

Posted on Wednesday 18 August 2021

Council has been notified that Ausgrid is resuming critical maintenance and activities required to ensure community safety and network reliability.

Ausgrid acknowledges that planned outages during lockdown while people have to work and learn at home are an additional inconvenience, but they can not continue delaying critical work.

Ausgrid is aware HSC trials commenced on Monday 16 August but has no way of knowing if a HSC student is reliant on the power supply to complete a trial exam at the same time as a critical scheduled power outage but have provided the following advice for residents:

  • You will have been notified in writing four days before a scheduled outage – check your mailbox
  • You can also search for a scheduled outages using your address on their website
  • While it is rare to experience a power outage, they encourage students to consider planning for one as part of normal exam preparations, by ensuring devices are fully charged ahead of time and preparing for hotspotting as an alternative to Wi-Fi.
