From the Mayor - 28 April 2021

Posted on Wednesday 28 April 2021

Our children are settling back into school life with the start of a super busy and hopefully highly productive and happy second term.

Here at Council we have also been super busy. The draft MOSPLAN Revised 2018-2022 Delivery Program and 2021-2022 Operational Plan, Budget and Fees was unanimously endorsed by Council and is now on public exhibition until 9 May. MOSPLAN is the overarching document for every action Council undertakes and I strongly urge residents to review the draft by visiting yourvoicemosman.com.au.

Council’s Climate Action Plan – Mitigation Strategy is on the public record. This document together with the upcoming Resilience and Adaptation Strategy will provide the blueprint that will both lead and support the community to a net zero future. I thank Council’s Environment Team and the Community Consultative group for their valuable advice to Council.

Council’s Community Care services are also looking ahead, with the ever-popular Mosman Meals program launching a new online ordering service. For more information or to place an order visit care.mosman.nsw.gov.au.

Council has proudly partnered with Play For All Australia and the Mosman Chamber of Commerce to assist in the installation, starting at Balmoral, of inclusive swings at a number of our playgrounds. Play For All Australia wants every child to have the opportunity to equally participate in play and is looking for local businesses or individuals to sponsor the swings. Enquiries can be directed to hello@playforall.com.au.

Mosman Library Service’s Local Studies Unit and the Mosman Camera Club supported Mosman Rotary with the design of the newly released double-sided 1,000 piece Mosman Jigsaw Puzzle. Visit mosmanrotary.org.au to buy one of these challenging jigsaws and contribute to a wonderful fundraising community project.

In closing, I wish all the students involved in the rescheduled Schools Relay Challenge for the Balmoral Swim For Cancer on 2 May a wonderful day of fun competition.
