Karyn Gojnich (nee Davis) has been sailing since the age of eight and has competed in numerous local, state, national and international events.

Karyn was part of the Australian Yachting Team that competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. This was the first female crew to represent Australia in the sport of sailing in the Olympics. The team sailed in the Women's Double Handed discipline that was contested in the International 470 Class.

In 1995, Karyn was selected to represent Australia in the International Yatch Racing Union (IYRU) Nation's Cup - World Match Racing Championship. Her team won the Asia-Pacific regional qualifier held in Auckland, New Zealand and won the finals held in San Francisco, USA. 

In 2003, Karyn was part of the Australian Sailing Team that competed in the ISAF (International Sailing Federation) World Sailing Games held in Maeseille, France. The team sailed in the Women's keelboat event that was contested in J22's and finished in third place.
