Aunty Time award
Council’s Youth Services team’s work to improve mental health outcomes for young people in Mosman has been acknowledged with its recent popular Aunty Time workshops winning the Outstanding Partnership Award at this year’s NSW Youth Work Awards.
In partnership with local First Nations organisation the Gaimaragal Group in the lead up to NAIDOC week, the workshops brought together a group of 20 young people, focussing on wellbeing and resilience building and challenging notions of stigma taboo topics through a First Nations and mental health lens.
The Youth Services team’s innovative programs have been developed in response to increasing mental health concerns as a result of COVID-19 and the findings of a recent major consultation with the area’s youth.
