From the Mayor - 29 March 2023

A new state government will be sworn in in NSW and whilst many of the implications for Mosman are unknown, what we do know is the incoming government will not proceed with building the Northern Beaches tunnel. I will continue to work productively and collaboratively with newly elected and re-elected representatives from across the political spectrum with the sole aim of achieving positive outcomes for Mosman and the wider northern Sydney region.

The Balmoral Beach Club annual Swim for Cancer community fundraiser takes place on Sunday 2 April. Since 1990, $2 million has been raised with The Children’s Cancer Institute being the worthy beneficiary of funds raised since 2006. Further details can be found on balmoralswim.com.au. Later on the same day, Zali Steggall MP will host a Voice to Parliament Community Forum with a panel of experts to discuss recent developments and answer your questions. The forum commences at 2pm at the Cremorne Orpheum with registration details available at events.humanitix.com/voice2april.

At our Tuesday 4 April meeting Council will review its 2023/24 budget and long-term financial plan and the annual report outlining Council’s achievements to reach our 2030 climate action goals. Council will also determine its response to the current Harbour Trust Master Plan for the Gubbah Gubbah/Middle Head precinct, with particular focus on Middle Head Oval which Council has leased since 1977, firstly from the Australian Government and more recently from the Trust. Residents, visitors and representatives of local sporting groups who use Middle Head Oval are warmly welcome to attend. If you wish to speak at the meeting, please email meetings@mosman.nsw.gov.au no later than 5pm on Monday.

Both Mosman Youth and Library Services have planned a fantastic variety of free school holiday events for a wide range of ages and interests. National Youth Week will also be celebrated from 20 April with events organised by Mosman and neighbouring councils. Please check out the Events website for details.

In closing, a reminder to not miss the wonderful Artists of Mosman 2088 exhibition at the Mosman Art Gallery which runs until 23 April and may the Easter holiday period be happy and safe for all.
