Joint award for Mosman’s citizens of the year

Posted on Friday 26 January 2018

Founder and CEO of youth mentoring organisation Raise Foundation Vicki Condon and community advocate William Tuck have been named as Mosman’s joint recipients of the 2018 Mosman Citizen of the Year.

“Vicki and William have both made a significant and ongoing contribution to Mosman’s community in different areas so in this instance it was considered appropriate to have both Mosman residents recognised for their exceptional service,” Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan said.

“As Founder and CEO of Raise Foundation, Vicki has built the Mosman-based organisation into a large non-profit charity with more than 50 casual staff and a portfolio of 80 mentoring programs for young Australians.

“William has worked tirelessly and successfully to preserve Mosman’s beloved community and its independence and to support local community groups, such as his fundraising efforts for the Mosman Home Gardeners’ Club’s 70th anniversary.”

Another contributor to the local community, Mosman High student Melissa Thompson, has been named the 2018 Young Citizen of the Year. Melissa has been a member of the School Representative Council for the past four years, culminating with her selection as School Captain.

“Melissa has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills by providing a voice for the school community, and excelling in fundraising for charities and other school activities,” Cr Corrigan said.

The names of the three recipients were announced by Cr Corrigan during Mosman’s Australia Day proceedings at the Drill Hall following a Citizenship Ceremony and Australia Day Address by Mosman’s Australia Day Ambassador Kamahl.
