Soprano Amelia Farrugia to hit right note for Women's Day

Mosman Council’s celebration of International Women’s Day will feature Mosman’s internationally-renowned soprano Amelia Farrugia at a breakfast on Thursday 8 March from 7.30am to 9.00am at Mosman Art Gallery.

Enjoy breakfast while our special guest Amelia Farrugia talks about her amazing achievements and experiences as one of Australia’s best-loved sopranos who has sung many leading roles for Opera Australia.

“I am feeling very honoured to be able to speak and sing for International Women’s’ Day at the Mosman Art Gallery. I’ve learned to Press for Progress through Persistence, Practice and Prayer,” Amelia said.

Amelia has performed major principal roles for Opera Australia since 1994 and has appeared in many large-scale events, including carols and operas in the Domain and as a soloist in the internationally televised Final Mass for Pope Benedict XVI, World Youth Day 2008.

Internationally, she has performed at The Metropolitan Opera in New York, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Opera Hong Kong and the Spoleto Festival in Italy.
Amelia also debuted her own show DIVA! at City Recital Hall in August 2017.

International Women’s Day is celebrated across the world each year on March 8. The day provides an opportunity to recognise the achievements of women and their contribution to society. International Women’s Day 2018 theme is Press for Progress.
