Image Collection - Trace
The Mosman Library Service Digital Archive allows you to view images, documents, sound and film from the Library’s Local Studies Collection.
Trace is the digital gateway to Mosman. It comprises historic and contemporary resources which document, trace and describe the establishment and growth of this picturesque harbour side suburb.
The Local Studies collection of images, maps, manuscripts, council records, newspapers, subdivision plans, oral histories, realia, ephemera, textiles and ceramics continues to be added to this valuable resource.
The collection had been compiled by former Mayor, and local historian, Dalton ‘Jack’ Carroll and donated to Mosman Council in the 1950s. The original Carroll Collection images are on view in the Mosman Room, at Barry O’Keefe Library and are described in Carroll’s book The Story of the Pictures which can be found on Trace. In 1973 Mosman Library placed a large portion of the Carroll Collection in the care of the Mitchell Library on indefinite loan.
In 2000 The Carroll Collection of historic Mosman images was digitised and placed on the web with the assistance of a Library Development grant from the State Library of New South Wales.
