Dominic Johnson appointed General Manager
Mosman Council has appointed Dominic Johnson to the position of General Manager on a five-year contract at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
Mr Johnson initially joined Mosman Council in 2016 as Acting General Manager following a number of senior local government roles including working as Executive Director of the then Shore Regional Organisation of Councils (SHOROC), Director at Ryde Council, Acting General Manager of Ryde and a secondment as Director of Planning and Infrastructure at Willoughby.
Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan said Mr Johnson, whose qualifications include an Honours Degree in Government and Masters Degree in Environmental Science, had been selected from a field of high quality candidates.
“I am very pleased to announce that after an extensive recruitment process, Councillors have unanimously decided to appoint Dominic Johnson to the position of General Manager,” Cr Corrigan said.
“Dominic brings a wealth of local government experience to the role and Council looks forward to continuing to work closely with him for the benefit of our community.”
Mr Johnson said he was pleased to have been appointed to the role on a permanent basis.
“I’m delighted to have been appointed and I am looking forward to ensuring we continue to provide exceptional levels of service for residents and to assist the mayor, councillors and staff to deliver the community’s priorities,” he said.
“In addition I would like to place a greater emphasis on innovation and technology to bring the council firmly into the 21st century and provide a broader range of 24-hour online services.
“Progressive renewal or upgrade of tired assets and assisting the councillors and their community in working on difficult issues such as traffic and development will also be key priorities.”
While Mosman was subject to a merger proposal with North Sydney and Willoughby councils, Council had been limited to appointing a General Manager for a 12-month period. As the State Government has determined not to proceed with the merger, the standard contract term for Council General Managers and senior staff was now able to be applied.
