Key juncture for Mosman Junction

The major upgrade to Mosman Junction, creating a new pedestrian-friendly outdoor space, has reached the halfway mark, with the third of five stages underway on Prince Albert Street.

The first two stages are now complete, including two alfresco dining areas, improvements to the roundabout and the installation of a new pedestrian crossing at Middle Head Road.

Two other pedestrian crossings will be installed at Bradleys Head Road and Prince Albert Street while the slip lane outside the Buena Vista has been closed to form one of the two outdoor dining spaces.

Final changes will include landscaping works and the installation of additional lighting and outdoor furniture, which will form the project’s final stage to be completed in August 2018.

“This much-anticipated upgrade will create a purpose-built outdoor space which provides improvements to the overall streetscape of Military Road, while enabling residents to enjoy a vibrant new outdoor dining environment within Mosman,” Director Environment and Planning Craig Covich said.

“We thank the local community for their patience while the more disruptive project elements were underway and work is on track for completion according to our original timeline of August.”

The project follows community requests for additional outdoor and evening dining opportunities with the staging of works in five sections reducing the impact to residents, businesses and road users to stagger the required temporary closures of streets and footpaths.

Access has been maintained to all restaurants, cafes and shops around Mosman Junction with some parking restrictions and temporary changes to public transport applied where needed.

Notification of temporary road closures continues to be provided to local residents and businesses.
