Mosman celebrates Seniors Festival 2019
Mosman Council is celebrating seniors as part of the 2019 NSW Seniors Festival in February with a program that offers something for everyone, and promises to keep senior residents busy, entertained and spoiled for choice.
The program runs from Wednesday 13 February to Friday 22 February with a variety of events at Mosman Square Seniors Centre, Barry O’Keefe Library and Mosman Art Gallery.
Mosman’s 2019 Seniors Festival celebrations have a carnival theme and residents are invited to take the opportunities in the program to explore fun and new activities.
The official launch for the festival is a High Tea with Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan on Friday 15 February at Mosman Square Seniors Centre, where guests will have the opportunity to celebrate the week with the Mayor, and enjoy a delicious high tea with a glass of bubbly, and tea or coffee.
Other headline events include a cocktail party on Tuesday 19 February at Mosman Art Gallery that will feature dancing and a live band, and an ‘Under the Big Top’ themed Carnival Day at Mosman Square Seniors Centre and Mosman Village Green on Thursday 21 February. The day will be a festive carnival with games, food, music, activities, stalls and performances.
In keeping with the 2019 NSW Seniors Festival theme ‘Love your life!’ the program also includes a special gallery exhibition tour, workshops and discussion groups, and a busy schedule of fun and free activities at the Seniors centre including Tai Chi, exercise, chess and Zumba.
Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan said Council’s staff were excited to put on such a full program for Mosman’s 2019 Seniors Festival.
“Our seniors play such a vital and valuable role in enriching the fabric of Mosman. We’re thrilled to celebrate them and the contribution they make to the community,” the Mayor said.
“It’s such a diverse and fun program this year, with many opportunities for people to try something new. I really encourage and welcome all senior residents in Mosman to get involved.”
NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for seniors in Australia.
