Pawfect turn out for Mosman's Pet's Day Out 2018

Posted on Monday 27 August 2018

More than 4,000 animal owners and lovers attended Mosman Council’s 2018 Pet’s Day Out held yesterday on the Village Green and Mosman Square.

Human visitors enjoyed interactive animal shows by Australian Wildlife, Taronga Zoo’s Zoomobile and a special frog display by the Frog and Tadpole Study Group while canine companions were able to participate in a number of sessions including Bark Busters’ walking obedience master class and DOGA – Yoga with your dog with Adele Rancan. Other highlights of the day included a series of themed performances by Dancing Dogs R Us.

Kids’ activities including a colouring-in competition, photo booth, badge making, face painting and cupcake decorating were all very popular, with children decorating a record 600 cupcakes and 100 chocolate logs at the Cupcake Creations stall.

Pet’s Day Out returning winners Heidi Hodges and her dog Tyson claimed the title of the event’s most popular competition, the Animal Fancy Dress, which was one of a number of competitions held on the day, including Best Trick, Cutest Pet, Egg and Spoon race and There’s No Such Thing as the Dog Poo Fairy race.

“Heidi and Tyson were the judges’ favourites once again while conveying a very important and timely environmental message: ‘No to single use’ plastic bags,” Mosman Council Deputy Mayor Roy Bendall said.

“We had the strongest participation so far for many of our popular competitions and classes this year and it was also pleasing to have our biggest overall turn out to date for this much-loved community event despite the threat of rain.”

Pet’s Day Out was organised by Mosman Council with considerable support from sponsors including Mosman Vet, Bark Busters Lower North Shore, Rancan Sisters Fitness, Dancing Dogs R Us, Pepper & Murphy’s, We are Pets, Missy & Me Photography, Furry Legs, Paw Empire, Mosman Paws, Houndstooth, FurFresh, Happy Healthy Dog, Balmoral Pet Services, Sassy Treats, Pet Nurture and Bowties for Olivia.
