Spring School Holidays 2018 at Barry O’Keefe Library

These school holidays the Children’s Library has a variety of exciting and educational activities for children aged 5-12. Join us to explore different craft and science workshops.

Assemble your own electronic gadget or delve into geometry by creating lanterns. Explore robotics by building a bot and interacting with different types of robots. Use your creative skills in art and craft activities where you’ll make your own money box, binoculars, paper mosaics and more. Positions are limited so be sure to visit the website and book your place today.

Money Boxes

Tuesday 2 October, 10:30am

Decorate and customise a money box to suit your own taste.

Suitable for ages 5-8

MadLab Electronics

Wednesday 3 October, 2-3:30pm

Learn how to safely use a soldering iron as you assemble an imaginative electronic gadget. Understand the role of each of the standard components in your kits, such as resistors, capacitors, transistors and LEDs. Everyone will take home their working project.

Suitable for ages 9-12

Paper Mosaics

Thursday 4 October, 10:30am

Bring your creative ideas to the table to create fascinating mosaics.

Build a Bot

Thursday 4 October 2-4pm

We teach kids to build and program a robot. Kids will work according to the Build – Program – Test process cycles until the robot is built. The objective of this workshop is to introduce kids to all the elements of a robot, how they are put together and what they can do for the robot.

Binoculars

Tuesday 9 October, 10:30am

Expand your horizons by creating a customised pair of binoculars.

Illuminated Geometry

Wednesday 10 October, 2-3pm

Science and mathematics meet art in this gorgeous geometry activity. Create beautiful lanterns from circle shapes and lights.

EE-ZY Mayze Building Blocks

Thursday 11 October, 10:30am

These special building blocks are designed to stick together using only water as glue. You can cut them, arrange them, stick them together and build elaborate constructions.

Robot Riot

Thursday 11 October, 2-4pm

In this workshop children are introduced to different robots including advanced humanoid robots, boxing robots, sumo bots, autonomous obstacle bots and ozobots.
